Silence I + II Silence

I.
There is a stillness in me
like the calm before a storm,
only the storm never comes.
The grey sky sprinkles--
nothing comes.
I thought I would feel sadness,
like waves crashing down--
I feel nothing at all.
I am a silent sea
unflustered by the wind--
I am nothing at all--
nothing ever comes.

II.
There is a sadness in me
like the flowing of a river,
quiet but never ceasing.
The water trickles by--
it is always there.
I thought I would feel pain,
like a violent storm--
I barely feel at all.
I am an endless sea
filled with silent agony--
I am nothing at all--
but it is always there.
